~Chapter 3~

What is a dream? A dream, people say, is our subconscious mind's imagination at work while we're sleeping. Some people have dreams of memories, of their past. Some say they have dreams of the future. And some have dreams that give them messages. But what is a dream to me? Before, my dreams had always been the imaginative type. They were usually something strange, random, crazy. But that changed some years ago, and after that moment, my life would never be the same...

   "Hi, I'm Liliana!"
   "Hi! I'm Adriana!"
My head burst off my pillow. That was real. I remember that. Two years ago, when I met Adriana. So...Why do I feel scared. I feel like you do when you wake up from a dream where you die...
"Liliana." I looked around my room. There's no one there. Oh... I get it. I'm still dreaming.
   "Yeah?"
"Liliana, it's time to awaken," the voice said.
"Awaken? Okay, I'll just pinch myself."
The voice ignored me. "You're friend is in trouble, and it's your job to protect her."
"Wait...You mean Adri? How could she be in trouble? How could I protect her? Who are you?!" Okay, I know this is a dream, but this feels real...
"Someone will be coming to claim her life. You were born to protect her."
   "What? But how?!"
"You are Adriana's protector." My entire room around me began to fade into a stark white light.
"Wait!! What do I do?! How can I-"

UMPH! Oww...What the...? Oh. I stood up. I had fallen off of my bed. Huh... haven't done that in a while. I walked over to the bathroom and turned on the faucet. I splashed some cold water against my face. Jeez... What was that? I mean, dreams always feel real, but there was something different about that one. As I towel dried my face, I was hit by a wave of dizziness. Everything around me blurred as it spun and I felt lightheaded. I suddenly felt the cool hard tile of the floor against my face and realized I must have fallen. What the hell is this?!?! And then it appeared. The first sign of my life changing.

"Hi, what's your name?" Adriana said.
The boy looked up at her, flustered. Then slowly replied, "Caleb..."
"Well it's nice to meet you Caleb! I'm Adriana, and this is my friend Liliana!" I waved.
   "Umm...It's...nice to meet you..."

What the...? That was...weird. Who was that boy? I've never seen him before... Oh well. Whatever. I opened my eyes and got back up. The dizziness was gone and I could finally think straight. I looked at the clock. 2 a.m. Great. I sighed and got back in bed. Hopefully I can get four hours of sleep before I have to go to school tomorrow. I shut my eyes and felt as though I'd been asleep for MAYBE two seconds when my alarm was buzzing.
"RRRGG!!!" I slammed my hand down on the top of it and it immediately shut up.

"Hey Liliana, are you alright?" Adri asked when she saw me.
"Oh yeah, I just didn't get much sleep last night." She still looked slightly concerned so I smiled.
"Okay... Anyways, I think we should become friends with that new kid Caleb." Adriana blushed and looked away as she spoke. Caleb? Wait... Wasn't that the kid in my dream?
"Um, why?" I asked. her face was bright red.
"I-I don't know, I just think we should!" I smiled.
   "Ohhh, I see," I said.
   "S-See what?"
"Yeah, okay. I'll let you get away with this one. Sure, let's be friends with this guy." She gave me a sheepish smile and I just gave her that look that told her I could see right through her.
   "Thanks..."
Once we got to class Adri walked straight over to Caleb's desk. I just stood to the side.
"Hi, what's your name?" Adriana said.
   Oh my god...This is-! "Caleb..."
"Well it's nice to meet you Caleb! I'm Adriana, and this is my fried Liliana!" I waved, although I noticed he never took his eyes off of Adri.
   "Umm...It's...nice to meet you..."
What is this?!?! Everything in my dream happened in real life!! Wait... Then that means... Adri...

Since that day, every morning I'd have "visions" that would come true later in the day. I couldn't control what I saw, I just did. They became longer, and in more detail. Eventually it got to the point where I saw everything coming. Also, one day I found out that I could hear peoples' thoughts every once in a while. I figure that dream was real. Every last bit of it. Which meant that Adriana was in danger, and it was my job to protect her.
It was about three years later when a new girl showed up. Adriana reacted to her the same way she had with Caleb. She just had to be friends with her. But...this girl was different. I didn't see her coming! I hadn't seen her that morning and I couldn't hear her thoughts! Why...? Who- or what- is she?! Is she another protector? Or...is she here to kill Adri? I don't know... But I will find out. I will protect Adri. No matter what.

~Chapter 2~

Frozen in place, I couldn't move. Actually, more like I wouldn't. I didn't want to move! I liked this.
Caleb slowly pulled back. His face was only an inch from mine. "Sorry, I just...had to know," he whispered.
"Oh, that's alright! It was actually kind of...nice." He smiled.
"Yeah, it was. Well, I should get going now. Um...See you tomorrow," He said.
"Yeah, see you tomorrow." He turned around and started to walk away. As I closed the window, I could have sworn I saw some weird girl with pink hair watching him, but when I looked back, she was gone.

"Ai!!" I turned around to see Liliana running up to me.
"Oh, hey- uh...Why do you have a camera?" Liliana was holding a big professional looking camera.
"Because, I gotta get a picture of my new friend!! But beware, I'm going to take it sometime when you are not looking, and TOTALLY don't expect it!!!!"
"Haha okay, whatever." Man, this girl's weird...
"Come on, we should cross paths with Adri soon," she said.
"Um...Liliana." I pointed up ahead and she gasped. "Isn't that her over there?" Adriana and Caleb were standing up ahead of us, kissing.
    "Oh my gosh, FINALLY!!"
    "What...?" I asked.
"Those two have had chemistry since the day they met! I've been trying to push them together, but it took them THIS LONG!!! Oh well, yay! They're finally together!!! Come on, let's go the other way. We wouldn't want to disturb them!!" Liliana looked like she was about to burst with laughter.
    "Okay..."
Liliana and I walked in silence for a little while, when suddenly Liliana stopped. When she spoke, there was a sort of eeriness to her voice. "We both know what each other is, so let's talk."
"Okay, let's talk." Wow, she knows? Amazing, I didn't think she had already realized!
    "We're both Adriana's protectors right?"
    "No."
    "Oh...Then I guess I don't know what you are."
"I am a ghost, or at least, that is what I would be called in this form. I was sent here to save Adriana from-"
"Well she's already in good hands," Liliana interrupted. "So why don't you just leave?" Jeez, cold much?
"I must stay, not only to protect her but also, to make her remember." Liliana looked confused.
    "Remember? Remember what?"
"I see, you don't know everything. You only know about you."
"Care to shed a little light on the situation?" She asked. I smiled.
    "Gladly."
